The "Becoming New American" tour came to JFK on Friday as American Airlines brought in its first Boeing 737(N908NN) painted in the company's new livery.
In early December of 2012 American Airlines began to emerge out of bankruptcy and is continuing its transformation. With interior aircraft upgrades well underway it was time for AA to reveal its new branding. All the components of the old livery are still there they just look a little different. The distinct bare silver metal that has been on AA aircraft for almost 45 years will soon be a thing of the past. The new livery as AA puts it is light, vibrant and modern. American Airlines VP of New York and international operations Timothy Ahern spoke of the new logo as a "soaring eagle" that will grace the skies. Look for this next time you see a freshly painted AA aircraft take to the air.
American Airlines refreshed look is definitely a departure from their former selves. Like it or not the new livery does just what AA wanted it to do, it makes them stand out.
